Refocusing

In this month's blog, I want to revisit the original and ultimate reason that Pick It Up was founded. The main drive behind the organization.

"Our goal is to raise awareness and encourage others to keep the planet clean by collecting litter when outdoors. Whether it's walking in your neighborhood or exploring a new trail, we hope you bring your Pick It Up bag and grab improperly discarded items along the way. The more people that can make it part of their routine, the greater the impact!"

When dealing with environmental issues, it is so easy to get caught up in a whirlwind of stress. To get overwhelmed with the amount of living things that need help. It sometimes seems that there is no part of the Earth that humans have not drained. When this happens, the important thing is to ground yourself and deal with one issue at a time. Focus on simple tasks instead of the big picture.

Here at Pick It Up, we address the matter of littering. The simple act of picking up a piece of trash when you see it, regardless of who left it there. When you next evaluate your values and what you feel you can contribute to the world, I hope you will remember this post and this organization.
