Safety First

At Pick It Up we are excited you care about keeping the planet clean, and your safely and health is important to us. Here are some guidelines on HOW TO Pick It Up SAFELY:

  1. Wearing gloves when collecting litter is important to limit your exposure to Covid-19 and other germs. We are even including a pair of Showa Biodegradable Gloves with each bag purchase! You can also purchase additional gloves on our website. The gloves fit easily in your Pick It Up bag.

  2. During litter collection do not touch your face and wash your hands properly afterwards.

  3. Avoid dangerous material. Waste products or dangerous materials should be avoided when picking up litter. Please use your judgement and if you are unsure, leave it.

  4. Report any hazardous items you may find. If you come across any hazardous materials please contact your state or local Department of Environmental Health. In San Diego call 858-505-6880 or email hmdutyeh@sdcounty.ca.gov858 You can also visit the DEH website at:

    If hazardous items are found on highways or roadways please contact the Department of Transportation in your state. In California please submit a customer service request with Caltrans at https://csr.dot.ca.gov/
