DPW’s Adopt-A-Highway!

As we head into the summer here in San Diego, some might be looking to find more meaningful ways to help our community in their free time. At Pick It Up, we are all about making an effort when you can; yet, if you find yourself wanting to contribute in a more lasting way– this post is for you.
Adopt-A-Road programs have long been available, yet in recent years they have become both more accessible and common. Run through the Department of Public Works (DPW), participants can sponsor a two-mile section of roadway. A group leader will be effectively trained on safety measures and will be expected to host four cleanups of their road a year for two years.
The DPW will provide the groups with trash bags, safety vests, and sign-posts. They will also handle and dispose of the filled bags if a group is unable to do so.
Below I have linked the guidelines and application, as well as provided the phone number to call with more information or to report trash.
Happy volunteering and happy summer!
